Funeral Services for Mr. Chris Van Schepen will be held on Saturday Funeral services for Mr. Chris Van Schepen who passed away very suddenly Tuesday evening will be held on Saturday at 1:00 at the home and 1:30 at the Christian Reformed Church in Hull.

Mr. Van Schepen was downtown after supper Tuesday night yet. Soon after he was home he suffered a stroke, passing away around ten o'Clock. Last fall he had also suffered a light stroke from which he recovered. The deceased had reached the age of 64 years. Survivors include is wife and six Children.

‘Find a Grave’ lists Chris Van Schepen born 5 Feb 1886 New Jersey, died 3 Oct 1950 Hull IA buried in Hope Cemetery Hull IA. His wife was Johanna (Wynia), children listed were Donald, Fred and Louis.

Stroke Fatal to C. Van Schepen , Hull
Hull – Chris Van Schepen well know Sioux County farmer, died at his home in Hull last Tuesday evening. He was 84 years old.

After suffering a stroke last November he had been under a doctor’s care but was feeling fairly well until Tuesday when he suffered a second stroke, and died about 10:15 p.m.

Funeral services were held at 1 p. m. Saturday at the home and at 1:30 in the Christian Reformed Church of Hull with Rev. G. Hahn officiating. His sons served at pallbearers. Burial took place in the Hope cemetery at Hull.

Mr. Van Schepen was born in Patterson NJ., and came west when he was 18 years old. After farming near Ireton for 13 years he lived on a farm about three miles northwest of Boyden for 22 years. Upon retiring, he lived in Hull for the last two years.

He is surviving by his wife; five sons and one daughter. Fred, Louis, Mrs. Cornie Suzanna Vander Weerd, Donald and Melvin, all of Hull and Clarence of Bellflower CA and 14 grandchildren.
Also surviving are six sisters and two brothers, Fred Van Schepen, Mrs. Paul Adema, Mrs. Ed Van Engen and Mrs. Tony Vander Kooi al of Ireton; Mrs. Tunis Vollink of Boyden, Nick VanSchapen of Patterson NJ. And Mrs. Henry Kooiker of Grand Rapids MN.
