Mrs. J. Van Rooyen dies at local hospital, at 81 Mrs. Jacob Van Rooyen, nee Ida Vellinga, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Vellinga, passed away at the Municipal Hospital in Orange City on May 11 at the age of 81.
She was born in 1880 on a farm west of Newkirk. She resided in that vicinity most of her-life. In 1898 she was united in marriage to Jacob Van Rooyen. They had been married fifty-five years at the time of his death, Mrs. Van Rooyen moved to Orange City In 1954. She was preceded in death by a son Walter, two granddaughters, Mrs. Glen Vander Zwaag and Nelva Jean Van Rooyen, one brother Edward, and one sister, Mrs. H. Van Oort.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Herbert Huisman of Rock Valley, Walter Van Rooyen of Orange City, Mrs. Anthony Van Oort, Orange City and William Van Rooyen of Alton. Four sisters, Mrs. Gerrit Hofmeyer, Orange City, Mrs. Albert Wassink, Arcadia, California, Mrs. John Calsbeek, Lynden, Washington, and Mrs. Henry Vogel, Lynden, Washington, and fourteen grandchildren and thirty-six 'great grandchildren. She was a member of the First Reformed church and the Senior Ladles Mission, society. Interment was made at the Newkirk . Cemetery
