Richard Frederick Tank was born December 2, 1911 on a farm in Sioux County, Iowa to Dorthea and Karl Tank. He received his education in Garfield Township and spent his childhood and youth here.

On February 21, 1941 he was united in marriage with Vera Bauman at Peace Lutheran Church, Sioux Center, Iowa. To this union, one child was born, Verlyn.

Mr. Tank farmed in Garfield Township until 1964 when he retired and moved to Hudson. In 1965 he moved to Canton, South Dakota where he lived until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his son Verlyn of Champaign, Illinois.

Mr. Tank, age 57, died unexpectedly at his home in Canton on January 15th. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 18th, at 2:00 p. m. at the peace Lutheran Church of rural Sioux Center. Mrs. Marvin Mouw was organist and a duet was furnished by Mrs. Eugene Reid and Mrs. George Rehdet.

Pallbearers were: E.L. Wiebersick, Willie Davelaar, Carl Rau, Gerrit Brands, Clarence Bauder and Vincent Strubbe. Burial was In the church cemetery.
