Friends were shocked to learn of the passing of Mrs. Edward Talsma at Webster City, where she has lived the past four years.
Many attended the beautiful service here Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church, Reverend Henry Eggink of Sioux Center officiating. Pallbearers were J.B. Braskamp, C.J. De Munck, H.W. Klein, J.F. Dowma, William Kooreman and George Eason.
Mrs. Talsma was a former member of the Presbyterian Aid Society and the Legion Auxiliary here.
Mrs. Ed Talsma, 58, of Webster City died suddenly Thursday evening at a hospital, death being caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. She had been in her usual health until early that evening when she was stricken.
Brief services were held at the Foster Funeral Home, Webster City, Sunday at 3:30 P.M. with the Reverend Harold Putnam officiating. The body was brought to Alton Monday morning for services at 2 P.M. in the Presbyterian Church here. Burial was made in the Nassau Township Cemetery.
The former Arta Tott, daughter of Julius and Gertrude Tott, was born May 17, 1886, at Orange City where she also attended school and grew to young womanhood.
She was married to Edward Talsma October 5, 1905, and they made their home here until April 1940, moving then to Webster City.
Mrs. Talsma was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Surviving are her husband one son and two daughters, Julius of Sioux City, Mrs. Verne Nootnagel of Charles City and Mrs. Milton McCarthy of Akron. There are also 14 grandchildren and two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Spencer Alpaugh of Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Kathryn Kooyman of Daytona Beach, Florida and C.J. Tott of Richmond Hill, R.I.
Robert Van Citters, who is now in the armed services, also spent the early years of his life in the Talsma home.
