Angeline (Rens) Sybesma Bekhuis

Angeline Sybesma Bekhuis, 83, died September 14, 1998, at the Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon. Funeral services were held on Friday, September 18, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. The Reverend John Vermeer officiated. Interment was at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Angeline was born December 11,1914, the daughter of John R. and Mina (Van Maanen) Rens near Perkins. She graduated from the Perkins Christian Grade School and made profession of faith at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull.

On February 27,1935, she was married to Clarence Sybesma. They had three children, Sylvia, Myra and Syne. They lived on a farm near Sioux Center and attended the First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. They moved into Sioux Center and Clarence continued his farming, trucking and cattle business. Clarence died February 9,1951.

Angeline married John Bekhuis of Pease, Minnesota, on August 11, 1961. They were members of the Home Missions Church at Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, where she was active in Women's Friendship Society, Evangelism Committee and Calvinettes. She played the piano at the community nursing homes and taught release time. John died on March 26,1989.

Angeline moved to Sheldon, where she was an active member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. She was involved in the Golden Hour Circle and participated in neighborhood Bible study groups. She enjoyed making quilts for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Syne and his wife, Helen, of Ketchikan, Alaska; two daughters, Sylvia and her husband, Bob Buyert, of Sheldon, and Myra and her husband, Earl Heibult, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Robert and Thea Rens of San Marcos, California, Al and Coba Rens of Hull, Marvin and Evie Rens, of Hills, Minnesota, and Delmar and Mae Rens of Sunland, California; three sisters, Mina and Arie Burggraff of Rock Rapids, Alberta and Paul Bolks and Janet and Jim Kroese, all of Hull; three step children; relatives and friends.
