Tebbe J. Stientjes passed away quietly on Saturday morning, January 30, 1960, at the Harry Stientjes home at Doon, Iowa. He had reached the age of 88 years and 1 month.

The deceased was born at Amsterdam, The Netherlands, January 1st, 1872. At. The age of 12, he came to the United States with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johannes and Bina (Arends) Stientjes. In 1900 he was united in marriage to Effie Veenschoten and they lived on the farm northwest of Boyden. Four children were born to this union: John of Hull, Harry of Doon, Edna (Mrs. Andrew Fletcher) of Long Beach, California; and Sophia, who died in infancy.

Later they moved to a farm near Sheldon where they lived for eighteen years. In 1954 they established their home in Hull where they lived until the death of his wife on January 18, 1959. He then made his home with his son Harry and family until the Lord took him Home on January 30.

He made confession of faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served as elder in the United Presbyterian Church in Boyden for a number of years. When they moved to Sheldon they joined the First Reformed Church. He attended church services faithfully even later in life when he was unable to hear a sound.

He is survived by three children, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Jake De Vries of Primghar.

Preceding him in death were his wife, one infant daughter, his parents, one brother and two sisters.

He was a loving father and grandfather and friend to all, who mourn his passing but rejoice with him in that he has entered the glories of our Lord.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, February 3rd, at 1 P.M. at the Harry Stientjes home and at 2 P.M. from the First Reformed Church of Hull, Reverend Paul Trompen of Don officiating. Pallbearers were Morel Stientjes, Arnold Stientjes, Harold Stientjes, Gerrit Wesselink, Joe Wesselink, and Herman Eerkes. A mixed quartet, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Meylink, Mrs. Harold Koele and Asa Kraayrnbronk sang “There’s A Land That is Fairer Than Day,” and “The Last Mile of the Way.” Mrs. John Douma was organist. Interment was made at the Boyden Cemetery.
