Taeke Stellingwerf was born September 13, 1881in the Netherlands, and died at his home in Maurice September 7, of cancer. Funeral services were held September 9, in the First Reformed Church with burial in Maurice Cemetery.
On May 16, 1908 he was married to Tillie Youdstra. They came to the United States in 1914 and lived in Maurice most of the time. He was a blacksmith. The last few years he was employed by Steffan Body Works in Sioux City.
He leaves his widow and three children, Mrs. Richard (Marie) Skarshaug of Tacoma, Washington, Mrs. Sidney (Florence) Munday of Sidney, Australia and Nicholas Stellingwerf, with the Helicopter Transportation at Fort Riley, Kansas. Also three grandchildren: Elizabeth and Tommy Skarshaug and Mark Stellingwerf.
