MISS MAGGIE STEPHENS PASSED AWAY SUNDAY

Miss Margaret "Maggie" Stephens passed away at the Hull Hospital last Sunday morning following an illness of long duration. She was taken to the hospital for treatment just a week before her death, although she had not been well for a long time, sometimes feeling better and then again worse; but gradually failing until it was decided to take her to the hospital.

Miss Stephens was born in Ireland and had attained the age of sixty-five at the time of her death. She came to this country in 1884, locating Wisconsin. After a few years there she came with her folks to this vicinity, locating on a farm west of Rock Valley, where she spent about six years. About thirty years ago she came to Rock Valley to make her home here and keep house for her brother, Patrick Stephens.

Besides other relatives and many friends she leaves to mourn her departure four brothers: Patrick, Will, and John of Rock Valley, and Tom, who lives in the state of Washington; and one sister, Mrs. Mat Walpole of Rock Valley.

Funeral services were held in St. Mary’s Church in Rock Valley Wednesday morning and the remains were taken to St. Mary’s Cemetery. The services were largely attended, many coming from a distance to show their respect for the departed, and sympathy for the bereaved brothers and sister.
