Mrs. Reverend John Straks Dies

Mrs. Reverend John Straks, 80, nee Bessie Vis, passed away Saturday, October 29, in the Convalescent Home in Ashton, at 6 o'clock in the evening.

Born in the Netherlands, she came to America with her parents while still young. The family settled in South Dakota.

She was married to Reverend Straks in 1906. They were the parents of three daughters Mildred (Mrs. Theodore Mansen) of Burlington, Iowa, Eunice (Mrs. C.V R. De Jong) of Aurora, Colorado, Bernice (Mrs. Clarence Kuiken) of Sheldon; 1 son, Hubert Straks of Sheldon, who with Reverend Straks, survive.

There are 13 grandchildren and one great- grandchild.

Reverend and Mrs. Straks served parishes in New York, at Gibbsvilie, Wisconsin, Maurice and Sanborn, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon in the Trinity Reformed Church of Orange City, with Reverend N. Reck, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was made in the local cemetery.
