JOHN DROOG Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 10, for John Droog, former town mayor of HuJI, 61, in the First Reformed church. Rev. Nichols Rozeboom officiated. Burial was made in the Hull cemetery under the direction of the Kraai and Van Etten Funeral Homes, The Consistory members of the First Reformed church were pallbearers. Survivors include his wife, Ada, two sons, Rev, Chester Droog of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mr. Vernon Droog of Eau Claire, Wis., three sisters all in the Netherlands and. seven grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. John Droog were held Wednesday afternoon from the Frist Reformed Church of Hull IA, with interment in Hope Cemetery with brief military services. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. N. Rozeboom with arrangements by Kraai and Van Etten funeral service. Mr. Droog died at the Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He entered the hospital at Rochester, Minnesota seven weeks earlier where his illness was diagnosed as lung cancer.

Mr, Droog was born on May 2, 1898 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. In 1913 he came to America and came to Hull, Iowa and made his home with the Jacob Gorzeman family. In 1917 he enlisted in the army and served overseas. He was discharged in August 1919 and had attained the rank of Sergeant.

In 1921 he was united in marriage to Ada Reysenaars of Hull. To this union three sons were born, one of whom preceded him in death in 1927. Mr. Droog made confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at the First Reformed Church of Hull, Iowa and later had the privilege of serving as an elder. For two years he served as Clerk of the Consistory and at his death was second Vice President of the Consistory. Mr. Droog was a faithful elder and took a vital interest in the work and program of the. Church. He was also active in civic affairs, having served as Mayor of Hull and was at the time of his passing Clerk of the Town of Hull.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife; two sons Rev. Chester Droog of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Vernon Droog of Eeu Clarie, Wisconsin; three sisters in the Netherlands and seven grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
