Mrs. Stellingwerf, 89, succumbs here

Mrs. Auke Stellingwerf, 89, long time Orange City resident passed away last Friday, June 1, at her home, after being bedfast for three days. She had made her home with her son, Pete, after the death of her husband.

Fannie Van Steinvorn was born in Friesland, Netherland, Holland, December 27, 1867, and came to this country as a young girl with her parents and arrived in Orange City, where they continued making their home.

She is survived by five children, one daughter, (Jo), Mrs. Nick Postuma, Sheldon; four sons, Pete at home, Edward, Henry and Bert of LeMars; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her husband, one son at the age of 21 and a sister, Mrs. Tillie Dykstra, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were at 1:15 at the First Reformed Church with Reverend H. Colenbrander offificiating. Mrs. Mabel De Haan sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Going Down the Valley". Pallbearers were John Reinders, Dingeman Ver Steeg, William Van Steenwyk, Jake De Haan, Howard Jelgerhuis, and Cornie Van Leeuwen. Burial was in the Orange City Cemetery.

Those attending from out of town were Dr. and Mrs. Joe Dykstra, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Postuma, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Kreykes of Sheldon; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Stellingwerf, LeMars; Miss Sophie Dykstra, Des Moines; Bernard Postuma, and Nickie Postuma of Minneapolis, Minnesota; A/lc Franklin Postuma, Bunker Air Base, Peru, Indiana; Edward Stellingwerf, Henry Stellingwerf, Melvin Pitts and Mr. and Mrs. Garret Adler, all of Le Mars.
