Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Lutheran church in Hawarden, Reverend C.A. Burkhart officiating for Johicin H. Steinfadt, long time resident of Plymouth, and Sioux counties. Mr. Steinfadt died Monday at a hospital in Akron following an illness of several months.

Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers were Fred Heuer, John Tieden, Emil Schimming, Herman Gradert, Harry Conover of Le Mars and Mr. Roden of Akron.

Jochim Henry Steinfadt was born in Germany, December 9, 1860, and died March 6, 1939, at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 26 days. At the age of 19 he came to the United States with his parents, settling in Clayton County, Iowa. In 1888 he was united in marriage with Caroline Klave and came to Plymouth county where he resided for many years. After the death of his first wife he was united in marriage in 1890 with Miss Thalke Mohlmann. She passed away about eighteen years ago. In 1909 he moved to the farm now occupied by his son John, seven miles northeast of Hawarden. He continued active farming until 1922 when he retired and moved to Le Mars. During the past four years he has made his home with his children and prior to the time of his death had been with his daughter, Mrs. Rudy Klave near Akron. With the exception of six years spent in Missouri, Mr. Steinfadt resided practically all his adult life in Plymouth and Sioux Counties.

He is survived by four sons, Henry, John and Emil of Hawarden, and Herman of Le Mars, and three daughters Mrs. Harry Johnson of Ireton, daughter by his first marriage, Mrs. Dora Benecke of Luverne, Minnesota, and Mrs. Ruby Klave of Akron. He also leaves a large number of grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
