John Starkenburg heart victim buried Saturday, Aug. 20. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 20, at the Second Christian Reformed church in Orange City for John Starkenburg. Burial was in the Orange City Cemetery.

He died of a heart attack at his home in Alton on August 17 at the age of 56 years.

John Starkenburg was born on February 19, 1904 at Orange City, Iowa, to Sjoerd and Catherina (Van Laar) Starkenburg. On June 16, 1927 he was united in marriage to Lydia Van Otterloo.

He was an employee of Sioux County for 30 years and shop foreman for the last several years.

Survivors include the widow and three children. Angeline (Mrs. Arnold Van Es) of Boyden, Leo of Boyden and Lois (Mrs. Ronald Klein) of Alton and eight grandchildren. Also his mother, Mrs. S. Starkenburg of Bellflower, California, and three brothers, Bill and Fred of Alton, and Garrett of Bellflower, California, and three sisters, Mrs. William Brower of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Emmett Root and Mrs. Walter Boos of Bellflower, California.

One son, Gyrene, and his father preceded him in death.
