RITES FOR MRS. JOHN SORGDRAGER --EARLY RESIDENT HERE

Mrs. John Sorgdrager passed on Sunday at the home of her son Endor. She had been in ill health for several years and for a week had been cared for at the home of her devoted son. She was a resident of Alton for thirty-eight years.

Funeral services will be at her home this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 with Reverend Tinklenberg officiating and burial will be in Nassau Township Cemetery.

Gerritdina H. "Dena" Borrink was born in the Netherlands on April 10th, 1869 and came to this country at the age of 14 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Borrink. The family were early residents at Newkirk, where Mr. Borrink operated the Newkirk General Store. At the age of 18 she was married to Earnest Boer. Five children were born to the union, including Walter of Springfield Missouri, Henry and Edward of El Paso, Texas, Frieda, Mrs. Harion Schultz of Minneapolis, Lawrence of Ivanhoe, Minnesota. All survive their mother together with Endor Sorgdrager, son of her later marriage to John Sorgdrager, which took place in 1905. Also surviving are one brother, Henry Borrink of Storm Lake, and one sister, Mrs. Haverkamp of Lynden, Washington. Mr. Sorgdrager passed on last May.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baer of Springfield, Mrs. Marion Schultz and Lawrence Baer arrived early in the week to join their brother Endor in arranging their mother’s funeral Thursday and in paying tribute to her memory.

Mrs. Sorgdrager was ever a good and wise mother giving her family her full devotion and they have the sympathy of many friends.
