Brian Keith was born on January 23, 1959, in Orange City, the son of Howard Dale and Marie Adrianna (Bouwman) Heyman. He was raised in Alton and spent some time at the Glenwood State Hospital School in Glenwood, Iowa. He later lived at Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon, and more recently at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

Brian was a blessing to his family and brought joy to everyone he met. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including a hot cup of coffee, a cold can of Coke, good food, and great music.

His family treasures the sixty years they had with him. His life made an indelible impact on all of them. He showed them unconditional love, and displayed joy even through his struggles. His struggles are over, a special boy has gone home. His life mattered and those who knew him are richer for having had him in their lives.

Survivors include his mother, Marie A. Heyman, of Orange City; five siblings and their spouses, Barbara and Bruce Alderink, of Holland, Michigan; Debra and Brian Mastbergen, of Ames; Lora and Dale Oltmans, of Alton; Alex and Anita Heyman, of Mattawan, Michigan; and Julie and Kelly Plueger, of Craig; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Debbie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard.

Memorials may be directed to Village Northwest Unlimited.
