From the Sioux County Capital, May 19, 1988:

Mrs. Marjorie I. Dolphin, 84, of Orange City, passed away Sunday, May 15, at Prairie View Retirement Home at Sanborn.

Marjorie Irene was born Jan. 4, 1904 at Viola, the daughter of James Mott and Emma Waring Mott. On Dec. 24, 1928, she married Harry Dolphin at Cherokee. They farmed in O’Brien, Lyon and Sioux Counties, most recently near Ireton. On Feb. 16, 1965, they retired to Orange City. Mr. Dolphin passed away April 17, 1970 at Orange City.

In the spring of 1986, Mrs. Dolphin became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City, and in the fall of 1987 she transferred to Prairie View.

Survivors include her two sisters, Ellen Copeland and Beulah Carr, both of Fairhope, Ala., and nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Francis Mott; sister, Sina Mott; and two brothers and one sister in infancy.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 18, at the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City. Leslie White and Vernon Spinner officiated. Interment followed at the Hospers Cemetery.

Donald W. Mott, of Paullina, Iowa, was executor of her estate.
