MARIE G. DOORENBOS
June 10, 1908—June 24, 1995

Marie Gertrude Doorenbos, 87, of Boyden died on Saturday, June 24, at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. On June 6, she and her husband had been involved in an automobile accident near Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be today, Tuesday, June 27, at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Boyden, the Rev. John Goertz officiating. Burial will be at Sheridan Township Cemetery near Boyden.

Marie Horn was born on June 10, 1908, the daughter of Joseph and Katie (Gritters) Horn, south of Boyden. She was raised at Boyden and lived a short time at Hull. On April 19, 1933, she married Richard Gerrit Doorenbos at Boyden. They lived in Boyden until 1937, when they moved to a farm southwest of Boyden. They retired into town about 1970. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Boyden and United Presbyterian Women.

Survivors include her husband, “Dick,” and two sisters, Delia Scholten of Hills, Minnesota, and Minnie Vis of Valley Springs, South Dakota, and nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Richard; two brothers, John and Joe Horn; and several half-brothers and -sisters.
