IN MEMORIAM

Alfred Doorenbos was born April 24, 1909 near Boyden, Iowa. He passed away after suffering a heart attack in the early hours of the morning at [line missing]. He had reached the age of 64 years, 4 months and 28 days.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, Augusta; four sons and one daughter: Russell, farming near Boyden; Daryl, physician practicing in Le Mars; Rodney, property manager of C. G. Smith Management Co. in Omaha, Nebr.; Marlene, attending Central College in Pella, Ia.; and Roy, attending Bethel Bible College in St. Paul, Minnesota. There are 7 grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 brothers: Lawrence, Richard, Jacob and Theodore, all living near Boyden; 2 sisters: Evelyn (Mrs. Chris Visser) of Austin, Texas and Winifred (Mrs. Gerald Dykstra) of Bellflower, California.

Alfred farmed near Boyden all of his life and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Boyden Farmers Savings Bank. He was elder of the Presbyterian Church and was active in many local area organizations.

Services were conducted at the First Reformed Church at Boyden on Monday, Sept. 24, 1973, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Paul Moon officiating. Special music was furnished by the Kroese Quartet. Mrs. Dwight Blankers was organist; honorary pallbearers were Glen Rensink, Leonard Rensink, Edmond Valentine, Ray Smit and Leonard Kleyn; active pallbearers were Vernon Reimers, Joe Kleinhesselink, William Vander Maten, Howard Harman, Herbert Horn and Joe Horn. Interment was in the Boyden Cemetery, arrangements by Van Etten funeral home of Orange City.
