WELL KNOWN SIOUX COUNTY FARMERS DIES--JOHN SCHWARZ SR. PASSED AWAY MONDAY--FUNERAL HELD THURSDAY AT ST. JOSEPH

John Schwarz Sr., a prominent farmer of the Granville vicinity passed away August 27th at his home on the edge of town. Mr. Schwarz was 55 years 8months and 23 days of age. He died from the results of cancer.

John Schwarz was born at Tondorf, Germany on December 4, 1867 and came to this country with his parents and a brothers and sisters, when he was a year and a half old. He came to Sioux County 30 years ago engaged in farming near Granville. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Hebbelman of Granville on October 26th, 1898. Five children were born to the couple, the oldest being Mrs. William P. Ahlers of Granville. The other children: John, Rosa, Joseph and Anton, are all at home.

Besides Mrs. Schwarz and children, there are two brothers and one sister surviving: Peter Schwarz of Granville, Herman Schwarz, Sheldon and Mrs. George Schmidt, Granville.

Mr. Schwarz was a devoted husband and father, a respected member of the community in which he lived and a host of friends extend sympathy to the bereaved family.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s Church Thursday morning, Reverend J.A. Gerlemann in charge and interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
