PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME LAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT
WM 77 Years Old and is Survived by Widow and One Daughter.— Funeral Held Saturday
WED At ELK POINT JULY 7TH
Frank McFarlin passed away at his home in the north part of town shortly before 11 o'clock last Wednesday night following a brief illness of one week. Although he had not enjoyed the best of health for some time he was able to be up and around and was down town a week before his death on July 4th. The following day he was taken ill and he grew weaker gradually until the end came. Funeral services were held at the . Ross Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon with Rev. J. W. LaGrone, pastor of the Methodist church, in charge. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery. Frank McFarlin was born at Waubeek, Iowa, Aug. 18, 1850, and passed away July 11, 1028, having attained the age of 77 years, 10 months and 23 days. He grew to manhood in his native community and was united in marriage with Julia Hecox to whom was, born one child, a daughter. After having lived in and around his native community for many years he moved to Mason City and resided there for a number of years. He came to Hawarden about eight years ago and since that time he made his home here continuously. For a good many years he worked at the livery business and was always a lover of horses and he never felt quite at ease unless he had one or more horses about his home. Being somewhat of a restless spirit he was quite a traveler and he visited many states on such driving excursions, having gone as far south as Mississippi and as far west as Montana. His neighbors who knew him most intimately speak most highly of him, his Industry and his fortitude. He is survived by his widow and daughter, Mrs. J. F. Clemens and two grandchildren of Oelwein, Iowa. Sincere sympathy is extended to the family in their hour of sorrow.
