RITES AT ALTON TUESDAY FOR SCHROEDER INFANT WHO DIED IN SIOUX CITY TRADGEDY

Rites were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Alton Tuesday morning for Lonna Kathy Schroeder, year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schroeder of Sioux City (nee Emily Minten of Alton.)

Death came to the child at 6: 30 P.M. Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital three hours after she took a swallow of furniture polish. The baby had been in the kitchen while her mother cleaned the living room. Unnoticed the baby walked into the living room and the mother turned just in time to see Lonna lift the bottle to her mouth. She tried in vain to reach the baby before it was too late.

Lonna was born April 15, 1952 at Paullina.

Survivors besides the parents and two brothers, Richard Jr. and Loren; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Minten of Alton and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schroeder and great-grandmother, Mrs. Mary Konz of Granville.

Pallbearers were Gale Minten, Rita Jochum, Jean Versteeg and Jeanette Wolf. Flower girls were Carol Minten, Diane Probst, Diane Jahn and Patty Jahn.
