From the Boyden Reporter, September 3, 1931:

Infant Daughter Dies

Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Koiman, for the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Wassink, of Hull, which passed away on Saturday afternoon at one o’clock in a Sioux Falls hospital.

Mrs. Wassink is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Koiman, and the infant was their first grandchild. Rev. Douwstra from Hull and Rev. J. W. Brink, pastor of the First Reformed church of Boyden, had charge of the services. Immediately after the services the infant was taken to Edgerton, Minnesota, where interment was made in the family lot.

The bereaved parents and relatives have the sincerest sympathy of the entire community in the passing of the baby.

Wassink Baby Dies

The baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Wassink of Hull, Iowa died at a Sioux Falls hospital after a week of illness. Though the little one was permitted to live only four short weeks, it had come to mean a not to the bereaved parents. We join the community in expressing our sympathy.

The burial took place at Edgerton, Minn.

Baby Wassink Dies at the Hospital in Sioux Falls

Friends in Hull extend sincere sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Wassink in the loss of their little baby girl, about five weeks old, who died at a hospital in Sioux Falls where it had been taking treatments for an enlargement of the liver.

The funeral services were held Wednesday at ten o’clock from the Jacob Kooiman home in Boyden and at two o’clock from the Wassink home at Edgerton, Minnesota, where the little one was buried. Several from Hull were in attendance at both places.

Her death certificate has Darlene Bernice Wassink, born August 1, 1931 in Iowa, a resident of Hull; parents Arnold Wassink and Cornelia Kooiman, both born in Edgerton, Minnesota; died in the Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D., at 11 a.m. August 31, 1931; cause, congenital heart disease; buried Sept. 1 in Edgerton.
