Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 31st, for Mr. Henry P. Rohde, 73, of Boyden, who passed away Saturday morning, December 28 at the Orange City Hospital, following a lingering illness. The services were held at 1:30 P.M. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon and at 2:00 P.M. at the St. John Lutheran Church north of Boyden, with the Reverend P.A. Hinrichs officiated. Burial was at the church cemetery in the family plot.

Pallbearers were six nephews, Elmer and Harold Stegeman of Matlock, Ernest Hollander and Robert Reimers of Boyden, Guy Paulson of Sheldon and Lambert Boyer of Hull. Songs were sung by Mrs. Wallace Winter, Mrs. Loren Steuven, Mrs. Norvin Winter and Mrs. Vernon Heitritter, with Mrs. Lowell Woelber at the organ. In charge of flowers were Mrs. LeRoy Woelber and Mrs. Wendell Rensink.

Mr. Rohde, son of the late John and Emma (Meyn), was born April 2, 1890, on a farm north of Boyden, where he grew to manhood. He received his schooling in the rural school school north of Boyden.

In 1917 he was united in marriage to Martha Stegeman, also of the Boyden community. They farmed northwest of Boyden until they retired in 1953 and moved into the home he occupied on west Railroad Street, Boyden, at the time of his passing.

To this union three sons, John, LeRoy and Kenneth, and two daughters, Marian and Irene, were born.

He leaves to mourn, his five children and one sister, Mrs. Marie Lutjens of Avoea, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1959, and his parents and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Stegeman of Matlock
