From the Sioux County Index (Hull), April 17, 1931:

Six Year Old Daughter Dies After Siege of Illness

Frieda, the six and one-half year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kroese, died last week Thursday, April 9th, following a siege of illness, developing into pneumonia. She was first taken ill three years ago following the breaking of an arm from which she could not recover, regardless of the fact that she was taken to specialists all over the country. Her more recent troubles were whooping cough, chicken pox, and diphtheria, from which she had only recently recovered when pneumonia set in.

Frieda was the oldest of Mr. and Mrs. Kroese’s three children, and had been a student in the Hull Christian Schools. The classes in her room attended the funeral services in a body.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the home and at the Christian Reformed church, conducted by Dr. Haan, and the little one was laid to rest in Hope cemetery at Hull. The Index joins the many friends of the family in extending sincere sympathy.
