Mrs. Ben Roetman, age 73, of Orange City, passed away Monday, October 15 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Reverend Donald R. Lenderink officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.

The former Ellen Van Der Zwaag was born March 9, 1911, near Orange City, the daughter of Frank E. Van Der Zwaag and Nellie Jane Ver Steeg Van Der Zwaag. On February 17, 1932, she married Benjamin Andrew Roetman near Orange City. They farmed in the Middleburg area, until moving to Orange City in 1945.

Mrs. Roetman was a member of Trinity Reformed Church and its Reformed Church Women and a member of the Orange City Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband Ben; children, Don and Nelva Schreur of Orange City; grandchildren, Robert Dale Schreur of Muscatine and the Reverend Edward Hart Schreur and Tamera Sue Schreur of Long Island City, New York; great-grandchildren, Christopher Edward Schreur and Rebekah Joy Schreur; and sister, Mrs. John A. (Jennie F.) Bomgaars of Orange City.

Mrs. Roetman was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
