Joseph "Joe" I. Ripperda, 77, Rock Valley, a former Lyon County Supervisor, died Sunday morning in a Rock Valley Hospital following a brief illness.

Services were at 10:030 A.M. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Valley. The Reverends Patrick Noony officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Rosary was recited at 8 P.M. Monday at the Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley. was born January 8, 1900, in Larchwood. He married Gladys Kramer December 28, 1926, in Alvord. She died October 8, 1971.

Joe, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Ripperda, was born January 8, 1900, in Larchwood. He married Gladys Kramer December 28, 1926, in Alvord. She died October 8, 1971.

Mr. Ripperda farmed in the Rock Valley area, retiring in 1963, and served three terms as a supervisor for Lyon County.

Survivors include four sons, Francis of Austin, Texas, George of Rock Valley, Lawrence of Worthington, Minnesota and Daniel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Madonna) Plueger of Rock Valley and Mrs. Carl (Mary Ann) Selken of Larchwood; a sister, Mrs. Leona Higgins of Rock Valley; 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
