Mrs. Joe Rensink, nee Hattie Scholten was born near Hospers on May 31, 1892 and died September 9, 1943 at her home near Ashton at the age of 51 years, 3 months and 9 days passing away of a heart attack.

At the age of 11, she moved with her parents to Boyden on a farm northeast of town. March 18, 1914 she was united in marriage to Joe Rensink, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.H. Rensink of Boyden. They made their home near Boyden and to this union five children were born. They lived near Boyden for 23 years and just a few years ago moved to a farm near Ashton where she was living at the time of her death.

Surviving are her husband and five children: Wilma Rensink who was employed at a Mission station at Dulce, New Mexico; S/Sgt. Gerrit (Ted) Rensink who is with the Armed Forces in North Africa and who is in a hospital there at present, MM2cBernard Rensink who was some where in the Pacific and Lawrence and Howard at home. The brothers and sisters surviving are Gerhard Scholten of Boyden; John of Sheldon; Reverend Benjamin Scholten of Accord, New York; Mrs. Ann De Valois of Boyden; Christina, Mrs. George Gosselink, Basrah, Iraq and Miss Mina Scholten of Sheldon. Her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held on Monday at 12:30 at the home and 2:00 o’clock at the First Reformed Church at Boyden with Reverend Mr. Albert Van Dyke of Matlock officiating and Reverend Mr. J.W. Brink assisting. Interment was made in the Boyden Cemetery.
