Mrs. Jake Riepma died suddenly at her home in Maurice at about five o’clock Monday afternoon. Although Mrs. Riepma has suffered for a number of years from brights disease and of late has been subject to convulsions, her death came unexpectedly and was a great shock to her family and friends.

The funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon a one o’clock at the home and at two o’clock at the Orange City Christian Reformed Church of which she was a devoted member. The services will be conducted by the pastor Reverend Haan. The English sermon will be preached by Reverend Staaks of Maurice. Burial will take place in the Orange City Cemetery.

Mary Vander Wel was born in the Netherlands October 1st, 1878 and was 44 years old at the time of her death. She came with her parents to the United States during her girlhood and settled with them on a farm east of Maurice where she was married April 5th, 1899 to Jake Riepma. To this union four children were born: Tony, Bastian, Gertrude and Cora.

Besides her husband and children she is survived by one brother Peter Vander Wel, of Maurice and one sister, Mrs. Will Langeraak of Monroe, South Dakota and her aged mother, Mrs. Cornelius Vander Wel of Maurice.
