Mrs. Vickie Riphagen, age 63, of Orange City, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at her residence.

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, November 13, at 2:00pm, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Robert De Boer and The Rev. Dr. Brian Keepers will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a family prayer service on Tuesday, at 1:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Visitation with the family will be on Monday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the funeral home.

Vickie Fay was born on November 4, 1955, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Wilbur Dick and Tillie (De Jong) Rook. She was raised on a farm near Rock Valley and attended the Rock Valley Community School.

On August 30, 1974, she married James Alan Riphagen at the Carmel Reformed Church in rural Sioux Center. They made their home in Des Moines and Seattle, Washington, before settling in Orange City. In earlier years, she worked at Bankers Life in Des Moines and American Identity in Orange City. Later in life, she graduated from the Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, with an associate degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She loved her career as a nurse but was forced to retire early after suffering a stroke at the age of forty-nine.

Vickie was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church.

She enjoyed bird watching (especially eagles), crocheting, and cooking for her family.

Survivors include her husband of more than 44 years, Jim; two sons, Joshua Riphagen, and his wife, Gena, of Milford; and Seth Riphagen, of Orange City; two grandchildren, Morgan and Owen Riphagen; her mother, Tillie Rook, of Rock Valley; five siblings, Marlys, and her husband, Fred Hamann of Hull; Helen Merritt, of San Diego, California; Paula Brandimarte and Rick Rook, both of Pueblo, Colorado; and Joyce, and her husband, Jeff Murphy, of Granville; Jim’s parents, William and Lavonne Riphagen, of Hull; Jim’s four siblings, Cheryl Riphagen, and her husband, Paul Gilford, of Houston, Texas; Brad Riphagen, and his wife Bonnie, of Jefferson, Iowa; Mary, and her husband, John Brown, of Galveston, Texas; and Joel Riphagen, and his wife Yvonne Chong, of Sacramento, California; and a special friend, Laurie Anderson, of Orange City.

She was preceded in death by her father; a daughter, Elizabeth Riphagen; a brother-in-law, Gerald Brandimarte; a sister-in-law, Kathy Rook; a niece, Jennifer Chatham; and two nephews, Michael Riphagen and Jaxson Murphy.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice.
