Funeral services was said by the Reverend Father R.W. Reinhart, Saturday, November 13 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Valley, for John Rielly, longtime Rock Valley resident. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rock Valley.

Mr. Rielly died Wednesday at his home after an illness of several weeks. He was born August 3, 1884, at New Richmond, Wisconsin and came to Rock Valley with his family at the age of three. He attended Iowa State University at Ames and Capital City Commercial College, Des Moines.

He married Mary B. Shea of Fulda, Minnesota on June 12, 1918. They have lived in and around Rock Valley since that time.

He is survived by his widow, one son, John M. Rielly, Savanna, Illinois, two daughters, Mrs. Eugene Sprakel, Crafton, Nebraska and Miss Evelyn Rielly, Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. Rielly, who served in the Marine Corps and was killed on Iwo Jima, March 1, 945.

Mr. Reilly is also survived by six grandchildren, three brothers, Patrick and William, Rock Valley, Edward, San Jose, California and a sister, Sister M. Maura, Dubuque. Sister Maura, as well as other relatives out of town, attended the funeral.

Pallbearers were William E. Rielly, Martin McNamara, Thomas McGill, Peter Van Driel, Richard Richter and Paul Beumer.

Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
