LAST RITES FOR JOHN G. RICKLEFS

John G. Ricklefs, 71, of Le Mars, a former resident of the Ireton vicinity, passed away at his home on Monday afternoon of last week at his home on Monday afternoon of last week following a lingering illness, having been a sufferer from rheumatism for many years. He was seriously injured in an automobile accident four years ago and never fully recovered from the effects.

John G. Ricklefs was born October 25, 1867, at Hanover, Germany and came to America with his parents in 1878 when a boy and lived at Petersburg, Illinois. Five years later he came to Sioux County, locating near Ireton, farming here successfully until 1928 when he retired and moved to Le Mars.

He was united in marriage with Gesina Eilts in 1894 and nine children were born to this union, three of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, sour sons: Eilt, Lewis, and Fred Ricklefs of Ireton, and Elmer of Le Mars, and two daughters, Mary and Mabel at home; a brother, Henry Ricklefs of Sioux City and two half-brothers, George and Herman of Ireton and one grandchild.

Mr. Ricklefs was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in early life and was a consistent member of that church. He was a fine citizen and held in high esteem by those who knew him.

Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon in St. John’s Lutheran Church with pastor, Reverend L. L. Bolk, officiating. Interment was made in the Reading Township Cemetery.
