Died: February 9, 1921

Thomas A. Richardson, for many years a resident of Eagle Township, died Sunday night in the state hospital at Cherokee where he had been taken two weeks earlier for care and treatment. He had been in failing health for about three years. The remains were brought to Ireton Monday evening and taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. M.R. Richardson. Funeral services were held at the home at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by George Steinkamp, pastor of the Lutheran Church of Hawarden. Interment was made beside his wife in the Ireton Cemetery.

Thomas A. Richardson was born in Norway July 17, 1857, so had attained the age of 64 years, 2 months, and 22 days. At the age of 12 he came with his parents to the United States and they located on a farm in Polk County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Inger H. Hemmingson in Polk County and continued to reside there for several years afterwards coming to Sioux County, however, more than 30 years ago. His wife died shortly after moving to this county. He purchased a farm in Eagle Township which he continued to operate until about fourteen years ago when he retired from active farming. After he quit farming he made a trip to his old home in Norway but returned again to this country and has made his home with his children.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. M.R. Richardson of Ireton and Mrs. Fred W. Heuer of Eagle Township. He also leaves one brother, M.A. Richardson of Sioux Falls. His father and one brother passed away only last spring.

Sincerest sympathy is extended by all to the bereaved relatives.
