MRS. RICHARDSON DIES AT AGE 85; RITES HELD MONDAY

Mrs. Mary Richardson, 85, a resident of Hawarden 35 years, died Thursday afternoon at the Hawarden Hospital. While she had been failing in health for some time, she was seriously ill but four days.

Funeral services were held at two o’clock Monday afternoon at the Associated Church with Reverend John C. Thorns officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home.

Mary Carter was born April 5, 1872, near Louisville, Kentucky and as a young woman was married to Mr. James M. Richardson in Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. Richardson came to Hawarden 35 years age. James Richardson was killed November 2, 1937, when he was struck by an engine as he was walking in the North Western Railroad yards in the city.

Mrs. Richardson leaves 135 descendants, ten children and 125 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A grandson, Lt. Roy James Richardson of Stillwater, Minnesota was killed in a plane crash over Germany last March 26. A daughter also preceded her in death.

Survivors include six daughters: Mrs. Nora Savage and Mrs. John Hulleman, both of Barronett, Wisconsin; Mrs. Iva Howen of Williston, North Dakota; Mrs. Nell Mullarkey of Madison, Wisconsin; Mrs. Willa Jager of Hawarden; and Mrs. Mytle Jurgenson of Los Angeles, California; two sons: Millard of Anabel, Missouri and Ralph of Stillwater, Minnesota; two stepsons: Utah and Walter Richardson of Buffalo, Oklahoma and one sister, Mrs. Ora Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio.
