Mr. Egbert J. "Bud" Aalbers, age 79, of Alton, passed away Thursday, May 13, 1993 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Memorial services were held Saturday at the Alton Reformed Church with the Reverend Roger Voskuil and the Reverend Robert VanderSchaaf officiating. A family committal service was held prior to the memorial service at the Nassau Township Cemetery, near Alton, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.

Egbert John was born December 10, 1913 at Alton, the son of Nick and Johanna (Buurman)Aalbers. He was raised on a small farm near Alton.

On June 20, 1941, he married Marcia Bernice Foreman at Seney. They farmed east of Alton. She passed away May 20, 1990 at Sioux City.

"Bud" served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was a very active member of the Alton Reformed Church, where he served as an elder and a deacon on the consistory many times. He was also a member of Floyd Post 200 of the American Legion in Alton and a member of the Farm Bureau. He was an active supporter of the Floyd Valley/Maurice-Orange City Community Schools and Northwestern College in Orange City.

Survivors include his three sons and their wives, Nicholas J. and Sandra M. of Des Moines, Michael and Gena of Alton, and David L. and Ronda of Orange City; eight grandchildren, Saran, Marnie, Melissa, Mitchell, Jessica, Brady, Breanne, and Brent; and sister Diana Aalbers of Orange City.

Memorials are being directed to the organ fund of the Alton Reformed Church and to Northwestern College.
