Gerard Reinders Succumbs At 83 Years Of Age-Funeral Services Held Wednesday At First Reformed Church

Mr. Gerard Reinders died Sunday, January 23, at the age of 83 years and 10 months.

He was born March 22, 1871 in the Netherlands. At the age of 11 years he came to America with his parents and six brothers.

On March 25, 1896 he was united in marriage with Maggie Stuurop, who preceded him in death on October 9, 1927. In 1930, he married Elizabeth Popma Vander Schoor.

Mr. Reinders' parents and five brothers also preceded him in death. One brother, Edward, of Orange City survives.

Mr. Reinders is survived by six children as follows: Gertrude (Mrs. William Mulder), Ada (Mrs. John Boone), Henry, Grace (Mrs. William Schalekamp, Pauline (Mrs. M. Vander Maaten), all from Orange City, and Gilbert of Hospers, Iowa. Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, January 26, at the First Reformed Church here with Dr. Henry Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made at the Orange City Cemetery with arrangements by Van Etten Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Garrett Reinders, John R. Reinders, John B. Reinders, Gerald R. Reinders, John G. Reinders and Gerald Reinders.
