Mrs. Emma Collins, 61, a long time resident of Ireton, died suddenly in a car while enroute to attend the wedding of her daughter, Carol, Wednesday morning, July 26, at Marcus, Iowa.

She suffered a heart attack and died before medical aid could be reached at Paullina, Iowa.

Emma Irene Reed Collins, daughter of the late Clark and Eliza (Kyes) Reed of Spirit Lake, Iowa, was born June 2, 1900. On November 17, 195 she married Harry Collins of Ireton. To this union 15 children were born. During the first years of her marriage she contracted polio which left her crippled. In spite of her handicap she raised her family and did all her housework although she was confined to a wheel chair or a walker. Her husband died in 1940. Two of the children died in infancy.

She is survived by 13 children - Robert C. Collins of Hawarden, Mrs. Betty Timmons of Hawarden, Glenn Collins of Decatur, Alabama, Edwin Collins of Mayetta, Kansas, Ben Collins of Louisville, Minnesota, Bruce Collins of Kokomo, Illinois, Leon Collins of Ireton, Conrad Collins at home, Richard Collins of Sioux City, Mrs. Mary Frank of Gardena, California, Mrs. Bonnie Newberg of Fairview, South Dakota, Mrs. Carol Lee Alesch of Marcus and two sisters - Mrs. Lloyd Clark of Olga, Washington and Mrs. Ed Andreas of Spirit Lake, Iowa, 21 grand children and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Satterlee Funeral Home and at 1:30 at the Ireton Methodist Church. Reverend Fritz Springis officiated.

Wilbur Vreeman, the soloist, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. A.W. Bartlett sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and " The Old Rugged Cross." The casket bearers were Jake Sinkey, Richard Herwynen, Robert Ping, Fred Holtrop, Earl Degen and Andy Mars. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
