They resided on that farm for 30 years, then moving to the Axtin place, now occupied by Fred Reimers, in December, 1915. While living there Mr. Reimers passed away, July 31, 1920. Grandma Reimers continued to live there for ten years, moving to Boyden where she passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 1934.

Reverend Clyde beautifully expressed the passing of Grandma Reimers when he said “Wednesday morning at 8 o’clock, just at sunrise, the rays touched the life of Grandma Reimers and carried it upward to the Lord.”

The fullness of her life was expressed in her love for everyone. She was a devoted mother and a loyal friend, Her passing will leave a vacant place in the hearts of everyone in the community as she was endeared to all by her lovable ways, and admirable character.

Grandma Reimers came to Sioux City when there were no such things as roads and lived in a barn until their home was built. All of the struggles of pioneer life were experienced by the family.

Among the early neighbors were Joe and John Horns, Hansons, George Sharps, Steinborns, Lagindykes, and Cresswells. Grandma Reimers and Mrs. U.P. Cresswell are among the last of the pioneers in this community.
