Alfred T. Aalberts, 74, of Orange City died Sunday, November 16, at his home of an apparent heart attack. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, in Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. The Reverend Raymond Weiss officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.

Alfred T. Aalberts, son of Jan and Whilhemina (De Jong) Aalberts, was born October 6, 1912, in Orange City and was a lifelong resident. He married Esther Duven June 9, 1937, in Orange City. He worked as a mail carrier in Orange City for 24 years, retiring in 1974. He later worked part time at Van Gelder Funeral Home. Aalberts was a member of Trinity Reformed Church, where he served as elder and deacon, choir member and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a member of Northwestern College Alumni Board, the N Club, American Legion and Lions Club. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific. He was secretary of West Lawn Cemetery Board.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Leon of Cedar Rapids and James of Holland, Michigan; a daughter, Linda Tysen of Salina, Kansas; two brothers, Garrett of Orange City and Edwin of Bemidji, Minnesota; a sister, Mina Verdoorn of Orange City; and seven grandchildren.
