Mrs. M. Raak pased away Friday morning September 17, 1937 at ten o'clock at the home of her children, Mr. and Mrs. James Zevenbergen, with whom she had been making her home.

Mrs. Raak was born Hendrika Jongewaard, near Pella, Iowa, on October 5, 1858 and lived 78 years, 11 months and 12 days. On April 2nd, 1885, she was united in marriage with Martin Raak who passed away on November 19, 1909.

Mrs. Raak leaves to mourn her departure six children: Ida, Mrs. P. Vander Wei, Orange City; Dena, Mrs. George Mieras, Maurice; Arie; Gertie, Mrs. James Zevenbergen; Gerrit and Peter all of Orange City, one sister Mrs. Kate Schoneville, four brothers, Ring Jongewaard, Guy Jongewaard, Albert Jongewaard of Yakima, Washington, and Will Labberton of Wapeto, Washington, and ten grandchildren.

One child died in infancy.

Funeral services were held on Monday September 20 at 12:45 at the home and 1:30 at the First Reformed Church at Orange City with Reverend H. Colenbrander officiating. Burial took place at the Orange City Cemetery.
