Funeral services for Gerrit M. Raak, 71, were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church with the Reverend Alvin J. Eissens officiating. Burial was made at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Robert Van Gelder, Garry Van Gelder, Bruce Van Gelder, Ronald Jacobs, Martin Raak and Marvin Vander Wel.

Mr. Raak passed away Monday at the local hospital following a lingering illness.

He was born March 30, 1898 in Orange City, the son of Martin and Hendrika (Jongewaard)Raak.

He married Rosa Kuiken on February 15, 1922. She passed away April 10, 1963.

He married Elizabeth Reekers on July 29, 1964.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters; Mrs, James (Hendrina) Van Gelder of Alton, and Mrs. Wilbur (Betty) Van Gelder of Le Mars; one step-daughter, Mrs. Adrian (Muriel) Jacobs of Alton; five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Peter and Arie of Orange City and three sisters, Mrs. James Zevenbergen of Alton, Mrs, Peter Vander Wel of Orange City and Mrs. George MIeras of Orange City.
