Three or four weeks ago smallpox broke out in the neighborhood near the Norwegian Church seven miles northwest of town, but nothing further was heard of it until the middle of last week when the Chris. Opdahl family came down with it, Mrs. Opdahl and their 16 months-old baby being stricken.

On Friday the baby became seriously ill, and a consultation of physicians was called in the night, and everything possible done for the child, but all to no avail. The babe passed away Saturday morning at 7 o’clock.

The funeral was held Sunday and was private. The home is now under quarantine.
