Mrs. Henry Atwood, For Many Years a Resident of Washington Township, Passed Away After Three Months illness—Funeral Today.

Mrs. Atwood, wife of Henry Atwood, died at her home on west Sixth street, about 4 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon from bronchitis and other complications. Mrs. Atwood had been in failing health the past three months and a few days ago her condition became serious.

Mrs. Atwood was born in Germany on June 8, 1864, being nearly fifty five years old. Her maiden name was Bertha Augusta Jacobs. When she was two years old her parents came to America and shortly afterwards settled near Watertown, Wis,, where she grew up and was educated.

She was united in marriage at Rockton, IL., with Henry Atwood in January, 1885, and in March following they came to Iowa. They located on a farm in Sioux county near Ireton where they lived for nine years. They then moved to Plymouth county and lived on their farm near Dalton until a few years ago when they retired and came to LeMars to make their home purchasing the Harp residence on west Sixth street.

To their union four children were born, one son George dying In infancy.. With the husband three children mourn the loss of wife and mother. They are Elmer H. Atwood, who is engaged in business at Ireton and who has just completed a term of service in the army; Mrs. Harry Bogen, of this city, and Miss Essie Atwood, who is attending the state university of Iowa. She also leaves to mourn her death her three brothers and a sister, who are Hermann Jacobs, Beaver Dam, Wis.; Louis Jacobs and Mrs. John Koth, of Reeseville, Wis.

Mrs. Atwood was a member of the First Presbyterian church and active in church and social work. She was devoted to her husband and children and her chief interests were centered around their well being and comfort. She had a large acquaintance in the community where she had lived so long and was highly regarded by many friends and neighbors.

The funeral services will be held from the Atwood residence at. 2 o'clock this afternoon, Rew A. Z. McGogney, a former pastor of the First Presbyterian church in LeMars, officiating. '
