Mrs. Gelske "Gertrude" Ottema died at her home Monday afternoon, April first, having reached the age of 83 years and three months.

Deceased was born in the Netherlands on January 24, 1846. In 1867 she was united in marriage to Mr. Nick Ottema who died in 1886.

Of the five children born to this union, three are living: Mrs. M. Neuteboom, Willow Lake, South Dakota; Mrs. K. Blanksma, Hartford, South Dakota; and Mrs. Will Dykstra, Rock Valley.

In 1893 the widow and her children came to America and have lived here for a number of years. She leaves 31 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren to mourn her loss.

Funeral services were held in the First Reformed Church Wednesday, Reverend H. Colenbrander and Reverend J. D. Dykstra officiating.
