Mrs. J. C. Doling died at the home of her daughter Mrs. A.T. Montgomery Tuesday, August 10th, aged seventy-nine years, ten months and sixteen days. Mrs. Doling had been sick for the past four months. Mrs. J.C. Doling, nee Ellen Dodge, was born at Batavia, N.Y., September 24, 1835. Moved with her parents to Ripon,Wis., when she was nine years of age. She was married to Julius C. Doling in 1858 and they moved to Iowa in 1870. To this union nine children were born,one dying in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Doling celebrated their golden wedding September 7, 1908. Mr. Doling's death occurred two years later. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Doling made her home with her daughter Mrs. A.T. Montgomery. Services will be held Thursday afternoon at one o'clock from the Christian church at Sutherland. The body will be laid to rest beside that of her husband in the Sutherland cemetery. All the children will be present at the funeral with the exception of one son who is ill and unable to attend. The children who survive her are Henry W. of Highmore, S.D., Wm. H. of Smithwick, S.D., Thomas E. and J. Houstan of Sutherland, Mrs. C.E. Hakeman of Harris, Ia., Mrs. Port Sleezen of Cherokee, Mrs. Andrew Montgomery of Hospers, and Mrs. John F. Donovan of Sioux City. Besides her children she is survived by two sisters, one brother, twenty-four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family has the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
