HERMAN JOHN OOLMAN, SR.

Death came to Herman John, Sr., 88, in the Cherokee Hospital Monday afternoon. He had been there less than two weeks.

Funeral services will be held at one o'clock in the home of his son Herman, and at 1:30 in the First Reformed Church, with Reverend F.B. Mansen officiating.

Mr. Oolman was born to Jacob and Aaltje (Neusink) Oolman on March 29, 1860 in Gelderland, the Netherlands, and came to his country in 1874. The family homesteaded west of town until 25 years ago when they moved to Orange City.

In 1889 he was married to Sjoukje Wassenaar, who passed away August 25, 1943. They were the parents of five children.

Two children preceded him in death, a son in infancy and Alice, Mrs. John Jonker, who died in 1939.

Surviving are three sons, Jake, John and Herman, and sixteen grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. One sister also remains, Mrs. John Vande Brake of Orange City.
