Patrick H. age 73 born 17 Mar 1843 PA died 27 Jan 1917 buried Sherman Tsp cemetery Maurice IA. Father Peter Moran mother Katharine Tafferty.

P. H. Moran died at his home in Maurice on Saturday morning at twelve o’clock. Death was due to heart failure and the end came suddenly, as he was out on the streets and about his daily avocations until a few days ago. Mr. Moran was about eighty years of age. Mr. Moran was justice of the peace in Maurice for many years and held other minor offices at diverse times. He was postmaster at Maurice and President Cleveland’s administration. His wife died a number of years ago. He is survived by on son Leo Moran, Mr. Moran was a pioneer settler in Sioux county and was well known to many people as in the early days before the town of Maurice was built (The next lines are not legible…..)
Will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Maurice at ten o’clock this morning.

The Angel of Death visited our village Friday Eve. and took from our midst Mr. P. Moran, a highly esteemed resident. Mr. Moran was born in Ireland on March 17, 1844. He was married to Miss Mary Rogers, who preceded him to the great beyond almost ten years ago. There were three children born of this union one of whom survives. Before taking up residence here, Mr. Moran was a railroad conductor in Wisconsin and during the 30 years or more that he has resided here he has been postmaster, Mayor and Justice of the Peace. At the time of his death he was 73 years old. One son, Leo, who works in Kansas City and a brother, Frank who lives in South Dakota, survive him. The funeral was held Tuesday morning at St. Mary's church. Rev. C.P. Conway officiating. Burial was at St. Mary's cemetery. Out of town friends and relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr. Fanning and Miss Amelia Fanning of Parker, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Moran, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson, Mr. and Mrs. L. Becker of Struble, Tom Dealtry of Sioux City, Hugh and Will Dealtry of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Will Dealy and daughter, Ethel of Hawarden, Charles McDonald of Hartington, Neb., Frank Moran and Leo Moran of Kansas city.
