Susan Haupert was born February 10, 1877 at Springbrook, Jackson County, Iowa to Michael and Mary(Monner) Haupert. In childhood she came with her parents, brothers and sisters to this vicinity, her parents having homesteaded east of Alton. She was married April 27, 1903 to Louis Noethe.

The couple farmed south of Alton until 1917 when they retired and moved to a fine new home in Alton. Mr. Noethe, who served a number of terms as County Supervisor, died on June 30, 1953. A few months later Mrs. Noethe had a fall from which she never recovered and has since been in the care of nurses and her devoted daughters.

One sister and a brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services at 10:30 Monday morning were in charge of Monsignor Z. Reising at St. Mary’s Church. Pallbearers were grandsons: Melvin Von Arb, Orville Von Arb, Edward, Louis Henrich, Tom Schneider, Jim Konz and Duane Konz.

Mrs. Noethe was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Mary’s Church. She was a devoted parent, a kind, loyal friend and neighbor.
