FUNERAL SERVICES HELD ON MONDAY FOR MRS. OELRICH

Mrs. Grace Oelrich, 83, passed away at the Sioux Center Hospital on Thurday, April 23, 1959, after a short illness due to cancer.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Lawrence Oelrich home and the American Reformed Church, with burial in Hope Cemetery. Reverend H.C. Ringenildus was in charge and arrangements were by Kraai and Van Etten Funeral Directors.

At the service special music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. D. James Hymans who sang “Jesus, Savior Pilot Me” and “Under His Wings.”

Pallbearers were Kenneth Oelrich, Frederick Oelrich, Charles Oelrich, Peter Oelrich, Delmar Wesselink and Ernest Moss.

Grace Van Wyk Oelrich was born at Newkirk, Iowa, on February 29, 1876 to Greta and Michael Van Wyk. She died at Sioux Center, April 23, 1959 at the age of 83 years.

On December 30, 1896 she was married to Charles David Oelrich at Orange City, Iowa. The first years of her marriage were spent at Middleburg. In 1902 they moved to a farm east of Hull where Mrs. Oelrich made her home until her death.

For many years she has been a Confessing members of the church. Since 1930 she has been a member of the American Reformed Church of Hull. She was faithful in attendance in the worship services and active in the Ladies Mission and Aid Society Sunday School Class. When absent from her home church by reason of visiting with one of her children, she was always certain to be present in the House of the Lord on the Lord’s Day.

She is survived by her ten children: Carl of Pomona, California; Mitchell of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; August of Sheldon, Iowa; Greta (Mrs. Tony Reipma) of Spencer, Iowa; Lawrence of Hull, Iowa; Henry of Memphis, Tennessee; George of Sultan, Washington; Ivan of Lennox, South Dakota; Dorothy (Mrs. James Booker) of Sacramento, California; Carol (Mrs. Louis Vaughn) of El Centro, California. There are 34 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two sister Sarah Van Wyk and Mrs. Tom De Koster of Hull, Iowa and a brother, Libbe Van Wyk of Glendale, California.
