Word was received of the death of Roy Oden, 74, former resident of Hawarden, who died in a Templeton, California Hospital last Sunday, August 18. He was on a fishing trip at the time of his death.

Mr. Oden was the son of Lawrence and Sophia (Johnson) Oden. He was born June 30, 1894, on a farm west of Hawarden. He married Lena Frank on March 13, 1918, at Sioux City. They lived on the Oden homestead until 1948 when they moved to Hawarden. In 1957 they moved to California and lived in Malibu during the past ten years.

Funeral services will be today at 1:30 P.M. on the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Dr. G.S. Bruland officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dow Funeral Home.

Oden is survived by his widow; one son, LaMoine, of Lakewood, California and three grandchildren.
