Funeral services for Mrs. Mathilda Oldenkamp, 97, of Hospers, Iowa who passed away on Monday, September 18, 2000 at the Parkview Nursing Home in Ellsworth, Minnesota.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2000 at the First Reformed Church in Hospers with Reverend Milton Sikkma officiating. Burial was in the Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sheldon.

Mathilda Oldenkamp, the daughter of Dick and Dora Hoekstra Tuinstra was born July 6, 1903 in Hospers, Iowa. She received her education in country schools.

On November 15, 1921 she was united in marriage to William B. Oldenkamp in Sheldon, Iowa. After their marriage the couple farmed in the Newkirk and Hospers, Iowa area for many years.

They retired from farming and moved into Hospers in 1965. Her husband preceded her in death on December 21, 1983 in Hospers. Mathilda remained in the family home until entering the Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon in 1991. She moved to the Parkview Nursing Home in Ellsworth, Minnesota on March 21, 2000.

She passed away on Monday, September 18, 2000 at Parkview reaching the age of 97 years, 2 months, and 12 days.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Hospers and the Lydia Circle of the Church. She enjoyed crocheting.

Mathilda is survived by one son Kenneth and his wife Carol Jean Oldenkamp of Upland, California and one daughter Evelyn and her husband Ferdie Kuemper of Worthington, Minnesota, a daughter-in-law Aletha Oldenkamp of Sheldon and a son-in-law Bob Den Beste of Spencer; also 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, one sister Gertrude Post of Pipestone, Minnesota, and a step-brother and his wife Herman and Milfred Steenhoven of Flandreau, South Dakota and a sister-in-law Mabel Tuinstra of Sibley, Iowa, also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son Alvin Oldenkamp, a daughter, Dorothy Den Beste, husband, parents, two brothers Elmer and Ed Tuinstra and a step-brother, Art Steenhoven.
